58 Seated male bulul from Banaue, 24" (61cm) H, well carved, in classic posture with thick black patina. It comes from Uhaj barangay, in Banaue. It was said to be owned by Mr. Tumapang, and to be carved before 1900. Certified as genuine by National Museum of the Philippines, October 2003, with stamp 0084804, with estimated age of circa 1920. It is carved from nara wood and weighs 9.0 kg. The NMP curator thought the square hour-glass square base was re-cut at bottom because the original base was uneven.
